Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Occupational Health Nurse III (OHN III) to support a large-volume industrial client in Lafayette, Indiana. This advanced nursing role is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in occupational health, acute care, or emergency response who thrives in an independent, fast-paced environment.
The OHN III is responsible for leading clinic operations, delivering comprehensive occupational nursing services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with HR, Safety, and Operations leadership to promote employee well-being and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing services for employee illness, injury, and wellness.
- Function as an autonomous nurse responding independently to most clinical and administrative demands.
- Lead on-site emergency medical response and support the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
- Conduct fit-for-duty and DOT drug/alcohol testing; perform OSHA-mandated surveillance exams.
- Maintain clinic operations, documentation, and metrics in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Act as liaison between local facility leadership and Corporate Medical functions.
- Support Disability Case Management and return-to-work coordination.
- Collaborate on ergonomic assessments, wellness programming, and safety initiatives.
- Uphold confidentiality and promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace.
Qualifications
Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in occupational health, acute care, or emergency response.
- Strong clinical judgment, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn databases such as PeopleSoft.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Certifications in occupational health, emergency response, or case management.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, ADA, EH&S, ergonomics, and health promotion.
